Water can be a problem because it swells the hair, which opens the cuticle and allows dye molecules to seep out. The solution: wash hair less often. Giovanni Powder Shampoo can help extend the time between washes by absorbing dirt and oil to refresh hair. • Take care of hair with the right shampoo and conditioner. It takes forty-eight hours for the pigments to totally fix the color so it is important to use shampoos and conditioners formulated specifically for color-treated hair, like Giovanni Colorflage shampoos and conditioners. • Other factors that contribute to fading are heat and sunshine. Shampoo with water that is neither too hot nor too cold. Avoid overheating while drying your hair. We also recommend avoiding shampoos with SLS, Alkaline pH, chamomile and Tea Tree which can cause fading.
